March 22nd offers hands-on workshops, portfolio checks, and another opportunity to immerse yourself in our art exhibition and discover even more companies to connect with.

Title: Interactive Sound Installations by Miriam Riefel
Facilitator: Miriam Riefel
Description: In this workshop, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at interactive art-tech installations related to sound and music. It’s a brief clinic on how to create such an installation. How do you generate ideas and execute them? How do you create an installation that both young and old want to and can engage with? To truly make something interactive, you must ensure that everyone who enters your installation feels like they have a personal impact on the experience. How do you achieve that? During the workshop, you’ll be introduced to techniques in interactive sound. You’ll play around with some sample techniques, learn about the creative design process of interactive installations, and develop your own idea.

Title: Video Game Economics: A Different Approach to Game Design

Description: In this workshop, we discuss the main theory behind Video Game Economics, and how they can be composed to make games using simple tools. From that, we design basic prototypes for our economies using Excel/Google Sheets, and Machinations.

Title: How to create a stylized prop
Facilitator: Sisilia Nedyalkova
Description: Come learn the vital skills needed to craft eye-catching stylized props in this workshop. I’ll walk you through the entire process, demonstrating how to create a stylized prop from start to finish. We’ll be using the Maya>Zbrush>Substance pipeline for a hands-on experience in prop design. Let’s dive into the world of prop creation together!

Description: In this workshop we’ll go over some of the core concepts of sound design and go more in depth into more advanced synthesis methods.

Title: AI in conversation, interaction and embodiment
Facilitator: Roger Ter Heide and Nikita Kayal
Description: ImproVive has been utilizing AI across various application areas. In this workshop, we invite you to immerse yourself in a VR experience we’ve developed called “Shuffles in Seeds.”In “Shuffles and Seeds,” we explore the concept of embodiment within VR. We gradually construct and deconstruct your virtual body, leading to mutations and changes in your sense of embodiment. You’ll witness this transformation by observing your own body and by interacting with a companion—an entity that mirrors your actions but also retains memories of both your actions and those of previous players. Your interactions and the collective memory of the companion blend together, offering a unique interactive experience.During the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to experience “Shuffles and Seeds” firsthand. Additionally, we invite you to delve into the concept of embodiment and its implications. We’ll begin with a brief introduction to our exploration of embodiment and the development of this project. Following the VR experience, we’ll open the floor to questions and discussions surrounding the concept of embodiment.

The ticket price includes drinks and snacks to be enjoyed during the Reality Check Festival after-drink on March 21st. Lunch is not included but can be purchased at one of the many lunch venues close to the Metropool/Wilminktheater.
